FAQ for Patients
- What is the G-View?
The G-View™ is a digital Gynecological imaging system that provides the Obstetric and Gynecologic (Ob/Gyn) professional with the capability of performing diagnostics, treatments, patient documentation, image management, and drug delivery using the same device. Read more>
- How does the G-View improve my wellbeing?
The vaginal speculum is not required when using the G-View and the examination can be performed with the patient sitting or lying down and completely covered, inducing maximum privacy and wellbeing. Read more >
- Can my physician share the results of my examination with me?
Yes. Your physician can save images on the system and either show them to you or print them.
- Where can I find a Gynecologist that uses the G-View?
The G-View is currently undergoing clinical testing, and is expected to reach physician offices during 2008.
- Will the examination with the G-View take longer than with the speculum?
No. The wide field of view of the G-View camera actually facilitates quicker imaging of the cervix, with less manipulation than common with the vaginal speculum, causing less discomfort as well.
- Does using the G-View eliminate the need for the bimanual examination?
No. The G-View is used mainly to image the cervix and vagina, while the bimanual examination focuses on the uterus and ovaries.
- What is the Lithotomy position?
Position in which the patient is on their back with the hips and knees flexed and the thighs apart. The position is often used for vaginal examinations and childbirth, and usualy regarded by women as intrusive and unpleasent.
- I hate the Lithotomy position. Is the G-View used while in this position?
The G-View can be used with the patient sitting or lying down with their private parts covered, or in the traditional Lithotomy position.
- Does my physician need to manipulate the G-View during the examination?
No. The image from the G-View is wide angle so
that the physician has the entire view in the picture frame. Minimum
manipulation might be needed if the examination includes treatment, therefore the examination is less unpleasent.
- What does “See and Treat” mean?
See and treat means that the device not only supplies an image for diagnostic purposes, it also enables treatment under vision. For example, while using the G-View to view the cervix, a biopsy can be taken if needed.
- How does the G-View provide such a good image?
The G-View incorporates a high definition digital camera. The images are taken from a relatively short distance, only 30-40 mm (about 1 inch) from the target, vs. about 300-400 mm or 10 inches while viewing through a speculum.
